ABOUT THE ARTIST: Originally from Sweden, Helena Palazzi began her journey into photography as a teen, using a secondhand film camera and spending hours in a darkroom set up in her family garage. In 1993 Helena’s journey took her to her father’s homeland, Italy, where she enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, Umbria. Less than two years later, she had her first solo exhibition. Many more would follow over the next few years, featuring her photography along with her mixed media work. For her recent "Maidens in Mystic Lands" series, Helena Palazzi reconnected with her childhood steeped in Nordic mythology, Viking women warriors and forest spirits.
